A new kind of smartphone deserved a custom Android launcher designed from the ground up. The Palm launcher focused on quick actions, a voice-first experience, and an award winning design which bridged the world of wearables and smartphones.
Unlike a full-blown smartphone experience, Palm aimed to usher in quick actions and voice-first experiences on the go, all while delivering all of the apps you loved. We worked closely with Google to create a new kind of Android experience on a device the size of a credit card.
The seamless Google Assistant experience delivered breakthrough results and easy of use, with over 5x more usage than standard smartphones. With a simple press of the side button, customers could play music, create events, reply to texts, or get directions—all while just using their voice.
The industry award winning user interface delivered a simple home screen with quick-action experiences that allowed customers to focus on life outside of screens. Palm's Life Mode feature integrated directly into the OS, eliminating distractions by silencing incoming calls and notifications every time the screen is turned off. When the screen woke, the Palm became fully connected again
Our impact
We worked directly with Google and Palm to bring the custom Android Launcher to life, shaping and delivering the end-to-end OS definition and experience. We drove the platform incubation from ideation, design, through final production, and helped launch Palm's entry into the smartphone category across carriers and retailers worldwide.
