Samsung
Galaxy Fit

The Galaxy Fit was the world's first wearable device with a high resolution curved touch display. Smaller and lighter than smartwatches, its design was developed to appeal to people interested in both fitness and style. The Galaxy Fit was equipped with a pedometer, GPS, heart rate monitor, sleep monitor, and sparked Samsung's entry into the connected fitness market.

The goal was not to create another gadget or smartwatch. Instead, we aimed to come up with a lifestyle product that appealed to the masses. It was a high-tech device whose technology faded into the background. The goal was a minimalist approach targeting wellness and fashion, driving a glanceable future so people wouldn't constantly look at their wrist. It needed to do only a few things very well rather than offer an entire world of apps on yet another screen.

Birth of the smart band

The Galaxy Fit incorporated a slimmer design in comparison to bulkier smartwatches. "Most importantly, it actually looks cool, a factor missing from other smartwatch efforts. It's the sort of eye-opening design touch that wearables need," according to CNET.

Our impact

We worked directly with Samsung C-levels, product planning, and R&D to bring the product and technology to life, shaping and delivering the end-to-end product definition and experience. We drove the product incubation from ideation, design, through final production, and helped launch Samsung's entry into the connected wearable market. The product helped Samsung shed its prior reputation as a fast follower and established it as a first mover in new and emerging categories.
